Key Points:
- Scramble for Africa: A time period in which many European countries tried to colonize Africa, where the major powers such as France and Britain dominated most of the continent.
- Indian Rebellion, 1857-1858: A rebellion and uprising in India cause my class differences with the British, and the Indian Hindus, and the oppressive rule that the British had on India.
- Congo free state/ Leopold II: When the Congo became part of King Leopold II's reign and when it was ruled by Belgium and in which he got wealth by taking its natural resources.
- Cultivation system: A system made by the Dutch that said that twenty percent of the agricultural products is to be sold and given to the government so they can mark up the prices on that to make large profit from it.
- Cash-crop agriculture: Crops that were used for only producing then selling for profit rather than using it for your own needs and wants.
- Western-educated elite: Africans and other countries peoples that got educated like the Westerns were and followed their customs but did not receive equal status as the Europeans did.
- Africanization of Christianity: When Christianity got applied to African religions and were taken into and added into, such as Shamanism and animism.
- Swami Vivekananda: He was an Indian who was also a Hindu and helped spread Hinduism to other parts of the world including the United States of America.
- European racism: The Europeans thinking they were the best and resulted in them thinking more and more of European supremacy, which was also started with Social Darwinism and imperialism.
- Edward Blyden: He was an African who fought for the equal rights and equality for all the races, religion and cultures of the world, as he said that every race has a part in the plot of the world civilization.
- Colonial Tribalism : The Europeans spread news of them conquering tribes when in face they were making up imaginary tribes in where they colonized and conquered adding to European supremacy and saying they were the best around.
