Key Points:



  • Neo-Liberalism: This is an economic approach where there were reduced tariff, free trade, better work force, industry privatizing, and the government getting more involved with the economy.  
  • Reglobalization: An effort to get the economy of the world and countries good and back up after World War 2, which led to a world economy and trade and in which countries did not want another Great Depression of occur. 
  • North/South Gap: When the world's North and South countries and places became hugely different due to the economies and the trades. 
  • Antiglobalization: Movements all around the world that protested against globalization, free trade, free economy, world trade, world economy, transnational corporations, because it made wealthy people wealthier and it made poor people poorer or having no effect.  
  • Prague Spring: Reforms made by the leader of Czechoslovakia, Alexander Dubcek, in the 20th century, trying to gain more freedom of expression and other things, but the Soviet Union invaded them and crushed the reforms.
  • Che Guevara: An Argentenian born revolutionary leader that had a specific goal in mind, he wanted to remedy Latin American and African the economic and social lives, and he did this through guerrilla warfare.
  • Second-Wave Feminism: Women movements that started up again in the late 1900's with something different that what was there before, wanted equal rights as men for women, wanted educated, jobs, marriage, etc...
  • Fundamentalism: Specifically with Christianity and Islam, people wanted to preserve the fundamentals of their religion within their county and with Christianity and the United States, they felt as if the United States was moving away and were close to an abyss, and Islamic fundamentalism led to Islamic renewal. 
  • Islamic Renewal: An effort to renew Islamic faith into private and public life within specific countries, especially near the Middle East and parts of Africa. This led to violent uprisings, getting rid of past leaders and the majority of the country's people who were going through this actually wanted it to happen. 
  • Osama Bin Laden/ Al-Qaeda: Islamic movements and groups led by Osama Bin Laden in an effort to make the world recognize the Islamic movements, consisted of rich and educated elite of Islamic communities as well as militants and declares war on the United States. 
  • Global Warming: A scientific explanation for the burning of large amounts of fossil fuels and where green house gases became trapped in the atmosphere, resulting in the climate of the Earth being warmer, Earth's atmosphere being hotter and became a world wide issue. 
  • Environmentalism: Movements and groups with a goal to keep the world green and the environment clean, the people who were willing to be a part of it wanted to preserve nature and to stop humans form destroying the world and beauty around them. 
  • Transnational Corporations: Giant corporations that were stationed all over the world, made goods and gave services to many companies, became very rich and had the majority of the world's wealth in economy.
