Chapter 14 (Part 2)

In this part of Chapter 14 I got to learn more about the slave trade, although i had learned about this before I still was able to learn some new things from reading it. The first that I really did not know was that in the middle east there was a practice where they used slaves long before the Europeans developed it. It was not at the same scale as the Europeans but there was still that practice that existed. It was a lot different however because the way they treated their slaves was very different, in the middle east they were apart of their families and societies unlike the Americas were they were seen as something different. Another thing that i did not know is that Europeans did not go into African and just take people for slavery it was the same African people that took themselves into captivity. Even if the Europeans tried to use force they would not have been successful and they learned that very quickly. I think in some way they were scared of the African people and their army. Some societies banned slave trade because they saw how bad it truly was but it was hard to get money without doing so, so however hard they tried everyone basically had to take apart in it. In the closing section it was interesting reading about how if we think about our lives are similar in todays world because we have products that are made all over the world and we use them in our everyday lives, however they are not made the same way they were back then. It comes to prove that you can have a global economy that functions without all of the conflicts and bad things that came with it at first.
